Dear friends, in order to welcome you to this III International Meeting of Metallurgy Perú 2014 I would like to remind two current Professors that with all his wisdom lead our way in mineral flotation; firstly, the Researcher Dr. Sergio Bulatovic who says that without the flotation process the current large-scale mining would not exist and its thermodynamic principles are still not explained by the scientists of our time, in addition he recommends to work hard on flotation reagents as the basis of this process; and secondly, our important mineralogist Dr. Cesar Cánepa who has built a working scheme through reflected light microscopy and transmitted with the criteria referred to flotation is a process on mineral species and not on chemical elements, he also recommends to improve linguistic bridges between related branches so the criteria will be broader and more positive. I hope that this meeting will be a way for the opening to current and future generations of geologists, miners and metallurgists who face the challenge of supporting the future of flotation as the most important process of mineral processing.
