Dr. FATHI HABASHI
Professor Emeritus at Université Laval , Quebec. Dr. Habashi holds a B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Cairo University, a Dr. in techn. degree in Inorganic Chemical Technology from the University of Technology in Vienna and Dr.Sc. h.c. from the Saint Petersburg Mining Institute in Russia. He held the Canadian Government Scholarship in Ottawa. Dr. Habashi taught at Montana College of Mineral Science & Technology, USA and then worked at the Extractive Metallurgical Research Department of Anaconda Company in Tucson, Arizona before joining the Université Laval.
DR. DAVID DREISINGER
Professor and Industrial Research Chair of Hydrometallurgy of the University of British Columbia (UBC). Dr. Dreisinger holds a BSc and PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from Queen’s University, Kingston, before he starts his career at UBC in 1984. Currently, he serves as Vice president of Metallurgy at Baja Mining.
Dr. JAN MILLER
Head of Department of Metallurgical Engineering of the University of Utah. Dr. Miller holds a BSc in the Pennsylvania State University graduating with distinctions. His post-graduate degrees (M.S. and PhD) in Metallurgical Engineering were obtained from the Colorado School of Mines. He has received numerous awards based on the contributions of mineral processing/hydrometallurgy research and he has been member of the faculty at the University of Utah for 43 years.
DR. HONG Y. SOHN
Hong Yong holds a BSc at Seoul National University in 1962 and a PhD in 1970 at the University of California, Berkeley. After Dr. Hong Yong worked as associate researcher at the State University of New York and Research Engineer at E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, Dr. Sohn joined the Department of Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Utah in 1974. Currently, he serves as Professor in Metallurgical Engineering and Adjunct Professor in Chemical and Fuels Engineering.
Dr. GUY DESCHENES
Metallurgical Engineer. Dr. Guy Deschenes holds a Master in Electrometallurgy and a PhD in Gold Hydrometallurgy at Université Laval, Quebec. Dr. Deschenes has 25 years experience as hidrometallurgist in R&D and an extensive experience as plant metallurgist. Since 1985, he joined the Canada Centre for Mineral and Energy Technology (CANMET) where currently he serves as Mining and Minerals Researcher in the Science Lab. Dr. Deschenes is author of 75 publications and consultant of 118 worldwide companies.
Dr. MICHAEL FREE
Among his main research interests are focused primarily on metals and their interactions with solution environments. This area of research is often generally referred to as chemical metallurgy or more specifically to the combination of electrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy. Consequently, most of his research has involved electrodeposition, metal extraction, and corrosion.
Dr. JORGE MENACHO
Metallurgist with training in Basic Sciences and Engineering Science. Chemist with a Bachelor Degree in Chemistry at University of Chile (1972) and Doctor in Engineering Science with a major in Metallurgy of University of Concepción (1985). Dr. Menacho has postdoctoral studies at The Pennsylvania State University USA (1985 - 1986).
Dr. OSCAR RESTREPO
Mining and Metallurgical Engineer of the National University of Colombia, Master in Environmental Impact Assessment in the Institute for Ecological Research, Malaga , Spain; PhD in Metallurgy and Materials at the University of Oviedo, Spain. Currently, Dr. Restrepo is researcher and teacher in the Department of Mineral Resources at the National University of Colombia- Medellin
Dr. GERMAN CACERES
Chemical Civil Engineer of University of Concepción (Chile) and holds a PhD in Electrochemical Engineering of Université de Grenoble. Dr. Caceres began his academic career in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering of University of Concepción (Chile) in 1973. In 1974, he served as Research Engineer in the Institut de recherche de la sidérurgie (IRSID-Francia). In 1975-1980, he holds a PhD in Electrochemistry in the Université de Grenoble, France, getting his doctor’s degree in 1979.
Dr. OSVALDO PAVEZ
Civil and Metallurgical Engineer of University of Concepción and Doctor of Metallurgical Engineer at Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brasil. Dr. Pavez began his academic career at the University of Chile in 1979, where he worked until 1981. In the same year, he joined the University of Atacama where he is Professor of the Department of Metallurgy, working in the areas of Mineral Concentration and Environment
Ing. MARIO GUEVARA
Civil Engineer in Metallurgy of the University of Atacama. Dr. Guevara began his academic career at the University of Atacama in 1989, which is now Head of Department of Metallurgy and Assistant Professor, working in the areas of modeling, simulation and process optimization. During his academic career in the University of Atacama, he has taught pregraduate and postgraduate studies and training.
Dr. JUAN MENENDEZ
Associate Professor of the Department of Exploitation and Prospecting of Mines, founding member of the Engineering Group for Development of University of Oviedo located in its campus at Mieres, University of Oviedo. At the time, he has taught several courses, both in the Oviedo School of Mines and University Department of TECHNICAL ENGINEERING OF MIERES, especially in Mineral Processing Technology (Mineralurgy)
Dr. OSWALDO BUSTAMANTE
Dr. Bustamante holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgy and Master in Minerallurgy of the University of Concepción. Currently, Dr. Bustamante is Head of IM CIMEX and Dean of Mines of National University of Colombia where he carries out Applied Minerallurgy and Mineralogy. There are noteworthy his researches and works on flotation of native gold and industrial mineral, gravity concentration, rheology of suspensions, and Ore classification and grinding.
Dr. JULIO TREMOLADA
Metallurgical Engineer of UNMSM, Dr. Tremolada got his master degree in Extractive Metallurgy at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil, Porto Alegre, Brasil in 1990, his Ph.D. in Department of Mining Engineering at the University of Oviedo, Spain. He has 26 years of professional experience in metallurgical operations, underground mining, and open-pit mining. He has 13 years experience in heap leaching of gold and silver ores and mineral treatment.
Ing. Nigel Grigg
Nigel Grigg is currently the General Manager for the Australian technology company Gekko Systems SA. He qualified in Metallurgy from the Ballarat University in Australia and is completing his Masters in Business management. Nigel worked for several mining companies within Australia within the positions of Metallurgist and Mill Superintendent, before joining Gekko 12 years ago. He has held several senior positions within the company before recently moving to South America.
MSC. JOSÉ MANZANEDA
Metallurgical Engineer with a Master's degree specializing in Mineral Processing, microscopy and experimental design. It has a solid and extensive experience in polymetallic concentrator plants and practical experience in the development of new techniques on differential flotation, contaminants separation such as manganese and pyrrhotite and the development of new concepts in the lead-copper separation. He has held in various Mineral Processing Plants in Peru, such as Compania Minera Santa Luisa, Compañía Mineral El Brocal, Empresa Minera Izcaycruz and Compañia Minera Atacocha y Minera Volcan He has received international training courses in countries like Finland, Mexico and Colombia.
CARLOS A. VILLACHICA
Metallurgical Engineering, graduated from the National University of Engineering in 1971. Master of Science in Mineral Processing in Montana Tech, USA, 1976. He has 31 years of professional experience in the field of Metallurgical and Environmental Research, 10 years of work in the Metallurgical Research Center at La Oroya. Speaker at over 40 professional events and in Metallurgy and Environment nationwide. Speaker in 12 professional events and Environment Metallurgy internationally.
JOE ZHOU
is a process mineralogist with over 30 years of experience in research, laboratory testing and consulting for the minerals industry. Prior to starting his consulting business, he worked for JKTech in Australia as Manager Mineralogy Consulting and MLA Solutions Manager from 2007 to 2010, for SGS Lakefield Research in Canada as Group Manager Process Mineralogy and Senior Mineralogist from 2001 to 2007, for AMTEL in Canada as Senior Mineralogist from 1994 to 2001, and for The University of Science and Technology of China as Assistant, Lecturer and Associate Professor from 1979 to 1994. He established Joe Zhou Mineralogy Ltd. in Canada in 2010 and has been Director and Principal Consultant for the company since then.
