Professor Mohsen Yahyaei

Professor Yahyaei is the director of Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC) and the leader of the Future Autonomous Systems and Technologies (FAST) strategic research program at The University of Queensland’s Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI).

He is a member of AusIMM and a professional member of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME).

Mr. Alex Doll

Alex G Doll Consulting Ltd. – Cork, Republic of Ireland

Consulting metallurgical process engineer specializing in power-based comminution modelling and conceptual design. Author of more than 20 technical papers on mineral comminution, Alex has presented short courses in Canada, Chile, and Peru. He was Editor of numerous Procemin conferences in Santiago, executive editor of XXVII IMPC in Chile in 2014, and Registrar for the 2011, 2015, & 2019 SAG Conferences in Vancouver, Canada. Alex has a BASc (1992) in Mining & Mineral Process Engineering from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

Dr. Barun Gorain

President & Chief Executive Officer, Ore2Metal Inc. – Canada

Dr. Gorain holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Queensland in Australia, and a B.Tech in Mineral Engineering from the Indian School of Mines (now IIT) Dhanbad. Dr. Gorain has served the global minerals industry over 25 years in precious and strategic metals operations, capital projects and has delivered commercial value worth +US$ 1 billion through implementation of innovative, breakthrough and digital technologies in metals operations. He has co-authored several books, published over 50 peer-reviewed technical papers and owns several global patents with commercial applications in production of copper and gold. Dr. Gorain is now the President and CEO of ORE2METAL based in Toronto.

Dr. JAIME E. SEPULVEDA

Executive Director – J-Consultores Ltda., Chile

Jaime completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Utah, USA, where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Metallurgy in 1977, and a Doctoral Degree in Metallurgy in 1979. Between 1986 and 2014, Jaime became part of Moly-Cop International where he reached positions of President for South America and Global Technical Leader. After his retirement from Moly-Cop in 2014, Jaime founded “J-Consultores Ltda.” which provides technical consulting services to various mining companies. In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious Robert H. Richards Award from the Society of Mining Engineers (SME) of the USA.
His most significant contribution to academia has been the development of Moly-Cop Tools© software.

ERNESTO MORI MONTALVO

Minera Los Pelambres, Chile

He is a Mechanical Civil Engineer from the Technological University of Peru.
His areas of interest are Grinding and Crushing and Liners. He has 11 years of experience in these applications in both cast liners and hybrid liners.
Advanced knowledge of Extractive Metallurgy and materials physics.
He has worked as a Technical Manager for Tega Industries Chile, as Minerals Product Specialist for METSO, as Product Engineer in MEPSA and is currently a Reliability and Continuous Improvement Engineer for Liners at Minera Los Pelambres, Chile.

HANS DE WAAL

Glencore Technology, SouthAfrica

Hans 27 years working experience in the mineral processing industry. Hans earned 11 years of experience in the platinum industry, working on numerous concentrator operations for Anglo Platinum in technical and production management disciplines. He joined Glencore Technology in 2008, and he is currently a Principal Metallurgist, providing consulting services to the minerals processing industry on fine grinding and flotation solutions. He also supports the technical development of IsaMill™ Fine Grinding Technology.

LUIS MAGNE

LMagne Ingeniería, Chile

He studied Metallurgical Engineering, Master and PhD at the Universidad de Concepción and has been working as an academic and researcher at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile since 1988. In 2000 he founded LMagne Ingeniería and LMING Peru in 2018, performing specialized studies for mineral processing plants.

OSWALDO VELA

METSO:OUTOTEC, Peru

Mechanical Electrical Engineer and MBA. He has 15 years of experience in installation, operation and maintenance of crushing systems, as well as specialties in mineral processing and control systems. He currently serves as assistant sales manager of Crushing Systems in Metso Outotec for Peru and countries in the Andean region, having participated in various projects at the level of primary crushing, secondary crushing, precrushing and ore sorting.

RAUL NORIEGA

METSO:OUTOTEC, Chile

Raul Noriega is a civil metallurgical engineer, graduated from the Universidad Santa María de Chile. He has more than 15 years of experience in the mineral processing field. He has worked in mining companies and suppliers of the sector. He currently works as a grinding equipment sales manager at Metso Outotec Chile. His areas of expertise are crushing processes, grinding processes, horizontal mills, HPGR technology and vertical mills.

DANIEL SUAREZ

METSO:OUTOTEC, USA

Dr. Daniel Suarez graduated from San Agustin University - Arequipa Peru, with postgraduate studies - Master of Science and PhD in Metallurgy - University of Salt Lake City - Utah- USA -. He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of mineral processing and Extractive Metallurgy. He has worked for Asarco ’s heap leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning operation in Hayden -Arizona, Falconbridge Limited Nickel and Copper Concentrator in Sudbury Ontario Canada and Falconbridge ’s Ferro Nickel operation in Dominican Republic. He currently works as Process Engineering Manager for Metso Outotec in York- Pennsylvania USA in the area of grinding processes, horizontal mills, HPGR technology and Vertical mills.

RODDY VALLE PECHE

Global Productivity Manager, FLSmidth, Peru

Roddy Valle Peche is a Metallurgical Engineer graduated from the National University of Trujillo, with more than 20 years of experience in mining-metallurgical processes. He has experience in process optimization studies in comminution circuits that include statistical data analysis, plant sampling, laboratory tests, mass balance, modeling, and simulations with the goal of maximizing productivity.

Civil Metallurgical Engineer from the University of Santiago de Chile, with more than 30 years of experience in the field of Mining and supplier companies. He currently holds the position of Technical Manager of Tega Industries Chile SPA.

Professor Dr. MALCOLM POWELL

Emeritus Professor at the University of Queensland, MillTraj, Australia.

Honorary Professor at the University of Cape Town.

Director of Design services, Comminution & Transportation Technologies Inc. & Comminution Reimagined ltd., Chief Technology Officer Geopyörä.

Malcolm has applied fundamental comminution research for design and process improvement at over 60 mines around the world for 35 years at Mintek, University of Cape Town, South Africa, and then as Comminution Professor at JKMRC, Australia. His work has been published in more than 200 articles and has been presented at various conferences held around the world. Malcolm collaborates extensively, along with close compatriots from 5 continents, in the Global Comminution Collaborative (GCC) group, which provides specialized research services and a consultancy base, where he covers the entire chain of the comminution process.

Dr. SARMA S. KANCHIBOTLA

Principal, SESHAT Consultants, Australia

He has 3 postgraduate degrees including a PhD in Mining Engineering and an MBA in Business Administration. Over 35 years of professional experience, with 9 years with the University of Queensland and JKTech as a professor and manager of mining research and consultancy, he has been General Manager of METSO for 3 years, business development and strategic projects. 2 years with Thiess Pty Ltd as Technical Manager, leading continuous improvement processes in drilling and blasting solutions. 6 years with Dyno Nobel managing Dyno Consult for the East Coast of Australia and Indonesia implementing innovative blasting solutions at key client mines.
• 8 years with the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Center managing and implementing applied blasting research at various mines around the world.
• 10 years with IDL Chemicals Ltd, India managing product development, technical evaluation and blasting service .

RAJIV SHARMA

Rajiv has a B. Tech (Bachelor of Technology) in Mechanical Engineering from the Government College of Engineering in Keonjhar, India. He has worked with clients from various geographical regions around the world to deliver value through performance and life enhancement in the field of Screen and Trommel. He has over 4 years of experience in the fields of Design, Analysis, and Simulation (Finite Element Analysis and Discrete Element Method Analysis) of Screen and Trommel. A continual seeker of challenges to enhance his technical skills so he can contribute more to the mining and metal industries.
